KOMPAS.com — Microsoft secara diam-diam meluncurkan situs jejaring sosial sendiri, Socl, Minggu (20/5/2012). Penyebutan nama Socl adalah “Social” dan beralamat di So.cl.

Proyek jejaring sosial Microsoft sebenarnya sudah bocor sejak akhir 2011, bahkan sudah diketahui secara pasti bahwa akan diberi nama Socl.

Pada halaman “About” Socl, diterangkan bahwa jejaring sosial ini merupakan sebuah proyek penelitian eksperimental untuk tujuan pembelajaran yang dikembangkan oleh FUSE Labs dari Microsoft.

Socl menggabungkan jejaring sosial dan pencarian guna membantu masyarakat umum, terutama pelajar dan mahasiswa, untuk menemukan dan berbagi halaman web yang menarik.

Data hasil pencarian di Socl didukung oleh mesin pencari Bing.

Di Socl, pengguna dapat melakukan login menggunakan akun Facebook atau Windows Live. Begitu masuk ke Socl, pengguna akan dihadapkan pada berbagai topik dan usulan untuk mengundang teman ke Socl.

Terdapat rentetan menu di sebelah kiri layar, mulai dari post, profile, video parties hingga following dan followers.
