June 21, Red Hat has officially announced the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 - a minor third branch update RHEL 6. In preparation for this release development efforts have focused mainly on improvements related to virtualization. For example, RHEL 6.3 provides support for guest operating systems 160 processor cores and 2TB of RAM (previously supported 64 cores and 512 GB of RAM). Delivery Protocol Virtual Desktop Spice compiled with the host adapter emulation KVM USB 2.0, and includes support for remote redirection of USB, which allows virtual machines running on servers that use the included remote USB-devices on the client side.
Another new feature - support for the SR-IOV NICs: a single physical network card can be represented as a set of separate virtual network cards for the guests.
The function «dynamic virtual CPU allocation» (except «vCPU hot plug») allows you to work while increasing the number of guest for her dedicated cores (reducing the number of cores is not yet possible).
